Ultravox

Ultravox

Ultravox were among the primary influences on the British electro-pop movement of the early 1980s. Formed in the mid-70s in London, with an original line up of bassist Chris Cross, keyboardist/violinist Billy Currie, guitarist Steve Shears and drummer Warren Cann and vocalist John Foxx their debut produced by Brian Eno would be released in 1977. After Midge Ure joined as primary vocalist and the band signed to Chrysalis Records, the new line up recorded Vienna with surprise hits Sleepwalk and Vienna following up with Rage in Eden (1981) and Quartet (1982) and Lament (1984). Chyrsalis records released 40th anniversary editions of Vienna and Rage in Eden in 2020 and 2022 with both charting in the UK for the first time in 40 years, a testament to the band’s enduring and dedicated fanbase.
